Kenwick School is an Independent Public School, a government school of choice for students in Years K-12 with wide ranging special educational needs. These include severe to profound intellectual disabilities, sensory and physical impairments, as well as other complex medical and behavioural conditions.

We accomplish this through a relentless focus on individualised and inclusive learning programs underpinned by collaborative engagement with students, their families and other service providers. Kenwick School pursues an inclusive and holistic approach to achieve positive social, educational, and health and well-being student outcomes. Several of our students often display challenging, maladaptive behaviours; many have co-morbid mental health conditions. We continue to develop and refine our strategies to foster positive student outcomes. This year we expect teach more than 100 students.
Kenwick School is seeking a permanent, full-time Level 3 Student Support Officer to address the school’s pro-social, attendance and participation agenda.
The successful applicant will lead effective strategies that target behavioural change and learning support for at-risk students. This role requires working closely with students, families, teachers, class staff and the school leadership team. Previous experience working in Student Services teams will be advantageous, as will experience in implementing PSD and engagement strategies, and an ability to articulate and share best PSD practices. A proven record of making a difference in student performance through utilisation of appropriate PSD strategies and related skills will be highly regarded as will the ability to deliver professional learning.
Understanding trauma-informed practice and restorative justice principles, as well as maintaining high expectations for our students are important, and therefore experience utilising these practices will be advantageous. The successful applicant should have the ability to form positive relationships with parents, carers as well as service providers to maximise outcomes for students at risk.
