As we continue to grow, we re looking for a mechanic who brings that same standard to the workshop every single day.
The Opportunity
This isn t a role for someone who does good enough. We want a mechanic who holds themselves to a tradesperson s standard – someone who takes ownership of every job, works with precision and efficiency, and leaves every piece of equipment better than they found it.
You ll service and repair a wide range of outdoor power equipment across some of the world s most respected brands – Honda, Stihl, Bushranger, Masport, Hustler, Cub Cadet, Rover, and more. No two days are the same, and that suits you just fine.
You ll also have the rare opportunity to work alongside one of Gladstone s best and most respected small motor mechanics – someone whose knowledge, work ethic, and trade standards are second to none. For the right person, this is as much about what you ll learn and absorb as it is about what you ll contribute.
Critically, you ll also play a key role in shaping the next generation of mechanics. We have apprentices in our team who need guidance from someone who leads by example – someone who can explain the why behind the work, not just the how.
Your Day-to-Day Will Include: Servicing and repairing small motor equipment to a high trade standard Mentoring and upskilling apprentices through hands-on guidance and knowledge sharing Diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical issues with efficiency and accuracy Handling customer enquiries and providing confident, knowledgeable service Assisting with sales and spare parts interpretation Managing administrative tasks including computer-based systems (Sprockit experience a bonus)
About You
You re the kind of tradesperson who takes it personally when a job isn t done right. You have high standards, and you hold the people around you to the same. You know that mentoring apprentices isn t a distraction from the work – it is part of the work.
You ll bring: A Certificate III in Small Motor Mechanics / Outdoor Power Equipment, or equivalent hands-on experience with a commitment to formal qualification A proven record of delivering quality outcomes, day in, day out The ability and desire to mentor apprentices passing on your knowledge in a practical, constructive way Strong communication skills, both with customers and colleagues A resourceful, problem-solving mindset – you find a way A neat, professional approach to your work and your workspace Computer literacy; Sprockit experience is a plus A current valid driver s licence (forklift licence advantageous but not essential) Welding/fabrication skills (preferred but not essential)
Backgrounds in motorcycles or marine engines will also be considered.
