About the role
This is not a desk-based management role.
Rather, you will:
maintain a meaningful clinical caseload
provide clinical leadership alongside an experienced and supportive Oral Health leadership team
influence equity-focused service delivery for tamariki, rangatahi, hapū māmā, and whānau
lead services in a region where your work has visible, community-level impact.
This role is ideal for an experienced clinician who wants to grow into leadership without losing their clinical identity.
As the Oral Health Clinical Team Leader, you will coordinate hospital and specialist oral health services across Tairāwhiti, working closely with school dental services and community-based programmes.
Responsibilities include:
providing day-to-day clinical leadership and guidance
supporting and mentoring oral health clinicians
leading service improvement and quality initiatives
partnering with schools, whānau, and multidisciplinary teams
contributing to innovative, equity-driven models of care.

About you
We are open to experienced clinicians who are ready to step into leadership, even if you have not previously held a formal team leader title.
You will bring:
registration as an Oral Health Therapist or Dental Therapist
a minimum of five years postgraduate clinical experience
strong clinical credibility and sound judgement
experience supporting peers, students, or quality initiatives
an interest in leadership, service improvement, and equity.
Ideally (but not essentially) you will also bring:
completed or in-progress postgraduate study
previous experience in leadership, coordination, or senior clinician responsibilities.
