The Instructional Assistant works with individual and/or small groups of students under the supervision of a certified teacher, providing classroom support and clerical assistance to teachers and staff. Duties include classroom support, clerical tasks, library, lunchroom, health room, playground, and other assignments as needed.
Reports to the assigned building principal.
Works under direct supervision using standardized procedures; provides information and/or advising others; and operates within a defined budget. Utilization of resources from other units may be required to execute job functions.
The role requires occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. The job involves 35% sitting, 35% walking, and 30% standing under minimal temperature variations and some hazardous conditions.

High school diploma or equivalent and at least one of the following:
One (1) year of related paid work experience.
Valid State of Washington Driver’s License or evidence of equivalent mobility.
Criminal Justice Fingerprint and Background Clearance.
Seattle Public Schools benefits are administered by the Washington State Healthcare Authority (HCA) under the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB). Eligibility for benefits is determined by the number of hours worked during the school year (September 1 through August 31). Employees scheduled for 630 hours or more in a year are eligible for benefits.
