The Surgical Services Unit at John Hunter Hospital is a critical component of the healthcare system, supporting the delivery of safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical and perioperative services. This unit encompasses a variety of administrative and support roles, including Patient Support Officers, Administration Officers, and Ward Clerks, working across operating theatre suites, Same Day/Day of Surgery, perioperative services, and surgical wards.
As a Casual Administration Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth coordination of administrative and patient support services within a fast-paced and dynamic hospital environment. This position is ideal for individuals seeking to commence or further develop a career in health administration.
Supporting patient flow and ensuring all required documentation and information is prepared for procedures
To be successful in this role, you are a highly organised and detail-oriented professional with the ability to plan, prioritise, and manage competing work activities in a fast-paced healthcare environment. You demonstrate excellent time management skills and maintain a consistently high level of accuracy across a range of administrative systems and processes.
You bring well-developed communication, listening, and questioning skills, enabling you to deliver exceptional customer service and build positive relationships with patients, colleagues, and stakeholders. Your interpersonal strengths allow you to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to high-quality service outcomes.
You are adaptable, resilient, and able to respond to changing priorities with professionalism and efficiency. With strong proficiency in computer systems, including Microsoft Office and healthcare-based applications, you are confident navigating administrative tasks while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with organisational standards.
You demonstrate a strong understanding of workplace health and safety responsibilities and consistently act in a responsible and accountable manner to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
