Headquarters Joint Operations Command (HQJOC) utilises Manpower Analysis and Planning Software (MAPS) to build and manage Operational Staffing Directives (OSDs) which define service manning liabilities for Joint Operations, Exercises and Activities within Defence. DSN MAPS facilitates the nomination and force assignment of personnel for deployment on all ADF joint activities.
As an APS5 Operational Data Support Officer, you will administer the MAPS system and data, support User Acceptance testing, document recent functionality and user‑defined requirements, and liaise extensively with other ADF agencies and contractor support to ensure the system meets Defence requirements. You will coordinate the DSN MAPS & OSD training program, facilitate access to MAPS, and support integration between HQJOC and the Services. Once trained, you will aid in delivering DSN MAPS & OSD training – virtually and face‑to‑face, with occasional inter‑state travel.
The APS5 Operational Data Support Officer works within the HQJOC Directorate of Personnel (J1), a joint workplace that includes ADF members from all services, Defence APS members, and contractors. The position reports directly to the APS6 Knowledge Manager within Personal Operations. The J1 Directorate manages personnel support administration, preparation and execution for all joint and combined operations, exercises and activities, aiding in the command and management of the Support Branch, and is made up of a Personnel Operations section, and a Personnel Plans & Policy section.
