About the Northern Territory Department of People Sport and Culture and the Northern Territory Sports Academy

The Department of Sport, Recreation and Concessions (DSC) sits within the Northern Territory Government’s Department of People, Sport and Culture and supports the development, governance and delivery of sport and recreation across the Northern Territory.

Within DSC, the Industry Development unit provides funding, advice, support and governance oversight to Northern Territory Peak Sporting Bodies (PSBs) and, where relevant, their member organisations. This includes supporting PSBs to meet funding and governance requirements and their obligations under the National Integrity Framework, including requirements associated with Sport Integrity Australia.

Also, within DSC, the Northern Territory Sports Academy (NTSA) provides athlete and pathway development support to Northern Territory athletes, coaches and officials through targeted funding, development programs and performance support services. This provides the NTSA with direct engagement with young athletes, coaches, families, clubs and PSBs well before athletes enter the formal national high-performance system.
